The Municipality of Quinto is located in the heart of Upper Leventina and covers an area of 75 km2.The altitude of the villages ranges from 975 m in Ambrì to 1,454 m in Altanca, andthe highest peak in the region is Piz Blas (Val Cadlimo), at 3,019 m above sea level.The parish church is dedicated to Saints Peter and Paul, with records dating back to 1227.

Quinto and Val Piora (www.ritom.ch)

This beautiful little alpine valley, approximately 8 km long and reachable from May to October via the Piotta-Ritom funicular railway, is the ideal starting point for numerous enchanting hikes.These include the educational Lake Ritom trail, which opened in summer 2009.The path winds along the wooded side of the lake, starting at the dam and ending at Cadagno, where it rejoins the other trails.It takes roughly two hours to walk the entire distance to Cadagno (10.7 km).The educational trail is a walk dedicated to the natural environment, and leads visitors to discover the region's unique flora, fauna and geology.As well as the lake that shares its name, Cadagno is also home to the Alpine Biology Centre and Alp Piora.ood and accommodation are available in the region in two huts and two alpine restaurants.
