General transport notes

This large-scale event will affect road traffic. Try to avoid travelling by private car and make use of the public transport services. Where possible, steer well clear of the area.

Residents who are directly affected by the restrictions are advised to park their vehicles outside the area in advance.

As a visitor, the best way to arrive is by train, bus, or of course by bike. There are no reserved parking spaces for visitors who arrive by car. The main event site is on the Langgasse in Baar, right where the stage finishes on both days. Public transport connections (rail and bus) can be found at Baar railway station, just a few minutes’ walk away.

Public transport

Individual stops offered by Zugerland public transport authorities will only be offered to a limited extent. You can find more information at www.zvb.ch

The railway connections in Baar are not affected.

Transport restrictions in Baar

Routes to and through the town will be obstructed or blocked during the event.

Langgasse; section of Aegeristrasse to Schutzengelstrasse

-       Wednesday 8 June 2016 and Thursday 9 June 2016: set-up of the main event site. Road open and access to properties guaranteed. Temporary bottlenecks/one-lane traffic routings are possible. Transport services will be partially introduced.

-       Road closed: Friday 10 June 2016 from 9.00 a.m. through to midnight on Sunday 12 June 2016. Location of the main event site plus start/finish

Haldenstrasse, Leihgasse and Aegeristrasse between Langgasse and Leihgasse

-       Road closed: Saturday 11 June 2016 between approx. 6.30 a.m. and 6.30 p.m.

-       Road closed: Sunday 12 June 2016 between approx. 7.00 a.m. and 7.00 p.m.

Race route

-       Entire route closed: Saturday 11 June 2016 between approx. 8.30 a.m. and 6.30 p.m. The areas enclosed by the route are effectively cut off from any transportation.

-       Rolling closure with the riders: Sunday 12 June 2016 between approx. 7.00 a.m. and 7.00 p.m. The roads will be open before and after. You can get an overview of the restrictions from the route plans and schedules published on the website of the Tour de Suisse.

Diversions

A diversion will be in place for cars to avoid Langgasse, which will be closed. Depending on the phase of the event, this will run via: Schutzengelstrasse – Lorzenmattstrasse - Deinikonerstrasse – Büelstrasse or via Schutzengelstrasse – Lorzenmattstrasse - Deinikonerstrasse – Mühlegasse – Früebergstrasse – Neugasse. Please note the signage and follow the instructions of the transport services.

Arrival at the Langgasse main event site

From the Autobahn A4, exit no. 13, Baar

-       Saturday 11 June 2016: access to the centre throughout the day

-       Sunday 12 June 2016: access as far as Kreisel Blickensdorf whilst the race is passing through. Otherwise, access to the centre is possible

From Zug, Hauptstrasse

-       Saturday 11 June 2016: access to the centre throughout the day

-       Sunday 12 June 2016: access to the centre throughout the day

From Sihlbrugg

-       Saturday 11 June 2016: access to the centre throughout the day

-       Sunday 12 June 2016: whilst the race is passing through the connection to the Autobahn A4, Zugerstrasse via Hirzel and Sihlbruggstsrasse will be closed. Otherwise, access to the centre is possible

From Blickensdorf

-       Saturday 11 June 2016: access to the centre throughout the day

-       Sunday 12 June 2016: closed whilst the race is passing through. Otherwise, access to the centre is possible

From Neuheim

-       Saturday 11 June 2016: access to the centre throughout the day

-       Sunday 12 June 2016: Neuheimerstrasse will be closed whilst the race is passing through. Otherwise, access to the centre is possible
