Team LottoNL-Jumbo (TLJ)

The former Rabobank, later Blanco and then Belkin team became Lotto NL-Jumbo in 2015. The new sponsors are the national lottery company and supermarket chain Jumbo.

What makes Lotto NL-Jumbo so extraordinary is that it also has a professional speed skating team, which makes sense considering that speed skating is a national sport in the Netherlands. This offers advantageous synergies, especially when it comes to performance analysis, nutritionists, physical therapy and back office staff.

Lotto NL-Jumbo’s team colours are yellow and black. One well-known racer is Robert Gesink (30), who took ninth in the general classification in the Tour de Suisse 2015, but had give up at the second stage last year. Wilco Kelderman, who took eighth in the general classification in 2016, switched to Team Sunweb this season. At least the new addition of Lars Boom (formerly with Astana) was able to replace him as leader.

A pity that the new 22-year-old member of the team, Antwan Tolhoek, will not be at the start of the Tour de Suisse. He captured victory last year in the mountain category while still wearing the colours of Pro-Continental team Roompot-Oranje Peloton. His energising style gained him plenty of affection from the crowd at the award ceremonies.
