Bidding for budding talent: put in a winning bid at the VeloVert auction and support the next generation!, 03. August 2012

12.00 noon on 6 August 2012 will see the start of bidding in the big auction for a great cause! For 10 days, Tour de Suisse fans can submit their bids for a FOCUS bike signed by Rui Costa, Levi Leipheimer, Fränk Schleck, Fabian Cancellara, Roman Kreuziger and Vladimir Karpets and at the same time support Switzerland’s next generation of cyclists.

While support for new talent is one of the main aims, when it comes to the sustainability of cycling, Tour de Suisse organisers – IMG (Switzerland) AG – have come up with a special fundraiser. Totally in keeping with Tour de Suisse’s sustainability concept – namely, VeloVert – from 12.00 noon on 6 August until 12.00 noon on 16 August, a green FOCUS bike will be auctioned bearing the autographs of the current Tour de Suisse winners as well as former winners. All the proceeds from the auction will be donated to the Club Maillot d’Or which is committed to supporting the next generation of cyclists.

Club Maillot d’Or – supporting Switzerland’s next generation of cyclists

The club funds and supports budding Swiss talent across all disciplines in the sport of cycling by means of project-based financial contributions (e.g. the Rübliland Grand Prix). It also holds its own race series for junior cyclists: the Club Maillot d'Or Challenge. At least 80% of its income is used for projects which are approved on application by the club’s board for training, supporting new talent and coaches. The applications for the current year are also presented and discussed at the club’s AGM. The rest of the income is used for various club activities. More HERE.
