New UCI World Tour license for the Tour de Suisse, 14. March 2012

The International Cycling Union (UCI) announced on Monday, 12th of March 2012, that the licensing committee agreed on an extension of the UCI World Tour license for the Tour de Suisse until 2016. 

Different aspects such as the importance of the event for the sport of cycling, the media coverage, the safety concept and the organization’s measures in sustainability were taken in account during the application process. 

The renewal of the World Tour license underlines the outstanding position of the Tour de Suisse in the world of professional cycling. The event is hosted by IMG on behalf of Swiss Cycling.
