FDJ stands for the French state lottery company, La Française des Jeux. It has been the sponsor of the team centred around cycling-mad manager and former professional rider Marc Madiot since 1997.

FDJ has two Western Swiss riders under contract, namely 32-year-old Steve Morabito and 26-year-old Sébastien Reichenbach. Both riders are important helpers, but may well be allowed a few liberties on the Tour de Suisse. Thus Steve Morabito won the jersey for the best Swiss rider in 2015, for example. 25-year-old Thibaut Pinot is a tour specialist and battled it out against Dutchman Tom Dumoulin (Giant-Alpecin) for victory in the overall classification during the 2015 Tour de Suisse. However, the real winner was the Slovene rider Simon Spilak (Katusha).

Since the outset, the team has ridden in the French national colours of royal blue, white and red, sporting a four-leafed clover.
