Mitchelton - Scott (MTS)
Michael Albasini is the only Swiss rider on the Australian team Mitchelton-SCOTT.
In each of the last two seasons, the classics specialist from Switzerland was only beaten in the sprint by world champion and record TdS stage winner Peter Sagan. No one would begrudge him winning a stage at this year’s event.
In the form of young Australian Caleb Ewan, the team now also has a pure sprinter on board.
The route of this year’s Tour de Suisse might also be tailor-made for the 24-year-old British twins Simon and Adam Yates.
And with his laid-back nature and winning smile, the Colombian Esteban Chaves, who has already finished on the podium at the Giro and the Vuelta, is also a popular contestant at the Tour de Suisse. In 2014, he secured a TdS stage on a summit finish at the tender age of 24.
Mikel Nieve – best SKY rider at last year’s TdS (ninth place overall) – has also joined the Australian team.
