Another building block in the route planning of next year’s Tour is set. The municipality of Oberwil-Lieli in Canton Aargau is the destination of the 6th Stage of the Tour de Suisse 2023.
A first for Oberwil-Lieli
Hosting the stage finish, which is expected to take place on Friday 16th June 2023, is a premiere for Oberwil-Lieli. And for Tour de Suisse Sports Director David Loosli, this means additional demands in the planning of the route. “A new stage location always brings new challenges. We are working in close cooperation with the local Organising Committee to design an exciting finish to the stage for competitors and spectators alike”. The municipality on the edge of the Mutschellen will also stage a community event for the entire region. Live broadcasts with catering, entertainment and attractions for young and old will be provided. A thrilling sports event with a celebratory atmosphere awaits. “The anticipation is high and we have already started planning,” says the local OC.
Rural charm near the City of Zurich
With around 2,500 inhabitants, Oberwil-Lieli retains its rural charm, yet it is only 15 minutes by car to the centre of Zurich. The local recreation area, high above the Reuss Valley, offers a beautiful natural setting with fabulous view of the Alps.
