Switzerland is renown worldwide for its many mountains. The King of Mountain Classification presented by Genesis is therefore a prestigious category at the Tour de Suisse.
The King of Mountain (KOM) Jersey has a new partner this year. Korean car manufacturer Genesis will recognise the top riders in the mountains in both the men’s and women’s Tour de Suisse. Just like Genesis the Jersey will impress with its sleek and elegant design. Get your first glimpse of the eye-catching red Jersey designed by Santini here.
At the 2019 Tour de Suisse, Hugh Carthy snatched the jersey for best Mountain cyclist when he rode like a hurricane on the last stage over the Nufenen, Gotthard and Furka passes. A performance rarely seen in modern cycling. The route of the men’s race promises some exciting duels for the Genesis Mountain Prize Jersey this year as well. Tough climbs await, particularly in the second half of the week. It remains to be seen which climbers will enjoy their best form then.
In the women’s race, there are fewer opportunities to secure the Mountain Prize Jersey on the circuits around Frauenfeld. No doubt it will be a close fought battle for the prize. Climbing is in the blood of the Swiss and they are among the favourites when the red jersey of Genesis is up for grabs on 5th & 6th June. *
* Plan to start at TdS 2021.
