The Tour de Suisse 2019 will lead to the Basel area.
InfrontRingier AG, the Tour de Suisse organiser, is delighted to lead the 2019 Tour of Switzerland to the stage finish in Arlesheim. On Tuesday, June 18, 2019, the Baselbiet community on the Birs will welcome the country tour.
“We would like to return to the Basel area – it is in our best memory.” Kurt Betschart, Technical Director of TdS, was quoted as saying at the signing of the contract.
Arlesheim already experienced a Tour de Suisse arrival in 2006.
The region at the foot of the Jura is considered to be a cycling enthusiast and an ideal starting point for various cycling experiences.
“The memories of the arrival of the Tour de Suisse 2006 are still present in Arlesheim today. In fine weather, the municipality celebrated a cycling festival of the extra class. The schoolchildren held a mobility day, and in addition to a large trade show there were various side events for the whole family – a great celebration,” recalls Marc Rüdisühli, IG Radsport Nordwestschweiz and OK Bikefestival-Basel.
In 2019, however, it does not stop at one arrival. The next day on Wednesday, June 19, 2019, the Tour de Suisse team will start in the neighboring community of Münchenstein.
Münchenstein is the home of TdS Premium Partner and jersey sponsor Primeo Energie, formerly EBM.
Primeo Energie is not only bringing the tour of the country to the Balser suburb, but will also start the stage on its own premises. In addition to the start, it is planned to accommodate the team buses and driver registration on the premises of Primeo Energie.
“The start on the company premises is a beautiful sign of Primeo Energie’s commitment and passion for cycling and our country tour. Together we will bring the cycling festival to the employees and to the community,” Kurt Betschart emphasized at the signing ceremony on site.
With the OC from the IG Radsport Nordwest Schweiz a lot of know-how and experience is provided. IG Radsport also organises the annual major event “Bikefestival-Basel” on the first weekend in September.
“We are looking forward to working with an OK we know and experienced. The OC around Marc Rüdisühli and Christoph Jenzer from the IG Radsport is well-rehearsed and perfectly adjusted for the implementation of a start location & destination”, Kurt Betschart from InfrontRingier AG is pleased to say.
