The 84th edition of the tour of the country makes a stop in French-speaking Switzerland.
“It is a great pride for the city of Moudon (VD) to host the largest and most popular sporting event in Switzerland and to bring this colourful sport to our beautiful city. What a great opportunity for participants and visitors to enjoy the feeling of experiencing the widely known hospitality of the Moudonnoises and Moudonnois”. said Carole Pico, Mayor of Moudon, at the signing ceremony.
David Loosli, Sports Director Tour de Suisse, also calls the partnership a stroke of luck. “Moudon (VD) is ideally located for route planning. It is important for us at the Tour de Suisse organisation to be present in all language regions of Switzerland. That’s why we are delighted to be making a stop with Moudon (VD) in a francophone part of the country. The hilly region offers an ideal backdrop for sports”.
The city of Moudon is known for its experience and know-how in the field of sporting events. Olivier Duvoisin, responsible for sports, culture and tourism in Moudon, underlines the commitment and passion for cycling in his city:
“The city of Moudon has a long tradition of hosting major sporting events. The arrival of the Tour de France in our city is a logical consequence of the organisation of the Tour de Romandie stage in 1999, 2003, 2007, 2010 and 2016, the World Bike Trial Games in 2013 and the European Trial Bike Championships in 2018”.
Mr. Duvoisin proudly adds to the signing of the contract:
“The Tour de Suisse will be the greatest sporting event ever held in Moudon!”
On Wednesday 10 June 2020, Moudon (VD) will await the racers for an exciting finish. The region between Lake Neuchâtel and Lake Geneva offers perfect conditions for an attractive stage.
The next day the international field of drivers will start in the direction of Valais.
“We are very pleased to be hosting this international event in Moudon, a city with a rich heritage and part of the association” The most beautiful villages of Switzerland “. Thanks to the high level of media coverage of the event, it is also an opportunity to highlight the particularly rich regional tourist offer”, underlined Nadia Atienza, Director Moudon Région Tourisme, at the signing ceremony.
So let us look forward to an interesting stage full of passion and enthusiasm in Vaud.
