The third and fourth stages of the national tour lead through the French-speaking part of Switzerland.

After 2003, the Tour de Suisse will once again have a guest performance in the historic Zähringer town on Lake Murten. InfrontRingier AG, as the Tour de Suisse organiser, is delighted to lead the National Tour in 2019 to the stage finish of the 3rd stage and the day after to the start in Murten.

“Murten is a beautiful place and offers the Tour de Suisse a great backdrop for exciting cycling. I am particularly pleased that with the stage destination in the canton of Fribourg, we will once again have an extremely attractive stage through the French-speaking part of Switzerland and will therefore be crossing all parts of the country in 2019”. David Loosli, Sports Director of the TdS, was quoted at the signing of the contract.

The Lake Morat region can be discovered wonderfully by bike. The cycle paths and roads run along Lake Morat, wine growing areas and vegetable country.
The Murten region is also closely linked to cycling in economic terms, as it is home to Phonak, a long-standing team sponsor, the cycling and sportswear manufacturer Scott, and Roland SA, a long-standing partner of TdS.

“The beautiful old town with its walk-in ring wall offers a very nice backdrop and atmosphere for a stage arrival of the Tour de Suisse. In addition to the landscape, Murten also has a lot to offer in terms of culinary and cultural attractions”, says Bruno Bandi from Murten town council.

So a great bike party will be provided.
An additional lap around and through the town of Murten is planned before the finish of stage 3 in Murten. For the spectators this has the advantage of seeing the racers pass by twice.
The 4th stage then leads on Tuesday 18 June from Murten through the Jura to Arlesheim in the Basel region.
