Albert Zweifel – competed 16 times, placed 14 times

Albert Zweifel (65), five-times cyclo-cross world champion and nine-times Swiss champion, is Switzerland’s most successful cyclo-cross rider. But no-one else has stood at the starting line of the Tour de Suisse more often than him.

Having competed 14 times, the two Swiss cyclists Beat Breu and Mauro Gianetti are in second and third place, with Beat Breu the overall winner in 1981 and 1989.

In fourth and fifth place: Martin Elmiger (Switzerland) and Rolf Järmann (Switzerland), who each competed 13 times.

In sixth place: Fabian Cancellara (TdS winner 2009), Urs Freuler (Switzerland), Henk Lubberding (Netherlands), Robbie McEwen (Australia), Beat Zberg (Switzerland) and Markus Zberg (Switzerland), who each competed 12 times.

You can find out more about the “new” Tour de Suisse 2015 on Wednesday, 1 October 2014. The latest information on the Tour de Suisse will be posted online from 10.30 a.m.
