National Team To Join Tour de Suisse 2019
For a selection of seven riders under Swiss national colors, next year’s Swiss round will become Tour des Suisses. A rules change decided by UCI during the World Championships opens this World Tour opportunity to young Swiss pro cyclists.
David Loosli, Tour de Suisse Sports Director: „This is very good news. We can provide a showcase for young riders not yet under contract with a major team. I’m happy to welcome them on a dream parcours with stage arrivals such as the Gotthard Pass summit.“
Usually, a Pro Continental or Continental Team Wild Card is the only way for upcoming pro riders to join a World Tour peloton. Swiss national coach Danilo Hondo is looking forward to the 2019 calendar highlight: „This is a precious opportunity for our young athletes to gain top level experience in a great race.“
