3th stage: Lachen - Pfaffnau
Lachen on the Lake of Zurich is one of the communities with the longest public lakeside promenades and invites you to rest and relax. The sporting offers in the surrounding area promises a lot of diversity. From water sports like swimming or SUP, recreation in the near nature reserve or countless hiking and biking routes Lachen is the ideal place for families. The late baroque style parish church with its double towers and the magnificent houses make the centre of Lachen worth a visit. And to enjoy a beautiful sunset the harbour of Lachen is the place to be.
Lachen lies in the district March. With its size of 5km2, Lachen is the smallest community of the Canton of Schwyz, forms however the economic centre of the region. Reason for this is good accessibility and connection to the motorway and a very dense public transport network. But also whether you arrive by boat or by air – thanks to its own airfield – testifies the diverse infrastructure of Lachen.
Welcome to the beautiful Mittelland. Nestled in the border area between Central Switzerland and Bern/Aarau are Pfaffnau and St. Urban, which together form one municipality. Close to the motorway exit Reiden you reach our village within 10 minutes by car.
Its rural character, central location and well-developed infrastructure are some of the many advantages that speak for the attractiveness of the Rottal municipality in the middle of the three cantons of Lucerne, Bern and Aargau. The stage finish in St. Urban also takes on a special character with the fairytale-like monastery in the middle of the town.
The municipality, with its two districts of Pfaffnau and St. Urban, has a population of around 2,600.
