With this starting point, one thing is for sure: an Alpine crossing is in unavoidable. Fiesch, located in the Upper Valais, is in the neighbourhood of the legendary Grimsel, Furka and Nufenen passes. From the Eggishorn you can enjoy a panoramic view of 40 four-thousand-metre peaks and the world-famous Aletsch Glacier. From Fiesch, there are considerable metres of altitude to climb to Diesntis Sedrun.

Val Bedretto

The Val Bedretto in northern Ticino stretches from Airolo up to the Nufenen Pass, connecting Ticino and Valais. The valley lies at the upper course of the Ticino River, which takes in numerous mountain streams that flow down from both sides of the valley. In winter, major avalanches often occur in the Val Bedretto. It is not unusual for the inhabitants to be cut off from the outside world at this time of year.

The Blenio Valley (Valle di Blenio) in northern Ticino stretches from Biasca up to the Lukmanier Pass. On the valley trail from Biasca via Acquarossa to Olivone, one encounters well-preserved villages and culturally historical sights. . The holiday resort of Olivone at the foot of the Sosto (2221m) is the starting point for many summertime excursions. In addition to nature, the valley offers a wide range of cultural activities with many museums and churches.

Lai da Sontga Maria

Lai da Sontga Maria

The Lai da Sontga Maria is a reservoir on the Lukmanier Pass. The 117-metre-high and up to 560-metre-long Santa Maria curved dam was completed in 1968. The Sontga Maria is connected to two other reservoirs in the neighbouring valleys, with the hydroelectric power station located in Sedrun.

The high alpine region around Disentis Sedrun with its impressive alpine passes offers optimal conditions for challenging routes and top sporting performances. As a highlight, cyclists and spectators alike can enjoy the unique spectacle of racing alongside the Rhine.
