Aesch bigott -the lively cycling village in the Birs valley
Aesch lies in the middle of greenery, surrounded by gentle Jura hills. Aesch is the perfect cycling village. Basel city centre is just as easy to reach by bike from Aesch as the many bike routes and trails in northwestern Switzerland. The municipality has the largest contiguous wine-growing area in the Basel region and, with over 100 clubs, an extremely active club life with a wide range of sporting and cultural activities.
Traditional events such as the local carnival with a carnival bonfire, the Rebgeist, Banntag, Eierläset or the parish festival are very important in Aesch and create a great atmosphere in the village.
Aesch is active and festive and has the ideal prerequisites to host the Tour de Suisse as an atmospheric stage location. The many surrounding castlesand ruins will provide historical moments and impressive images during the Tour de Suisse broadcast. From many points in Aesch you can see at least half a dozen of them.
Aesch, with its population of just over 10,000, its historic centre and its many green spaces, is developing slowly but steadily. More than 400 companies provide about 4500 jobs. The location close to the city in the vibrant Birstal, the ideal access for public and private transport andthe innovation potential of development areas such as Aesch Soleil make Aesch a village where all generations enjoy living, working and relaxing.
Aesch and the festival site on Ettingerstrasse can be reached very easily by public transport from all directions. There will be no parking spaces available for cars. Travel by public transport by all means.
