Commentary David Loosli
The Tour de Suisse 2022 will not start with a prologue as usual. The first stage, to be contested as a circuit, is a real challenge! The course towards Greifensee, the Zurich Oberland and over the Pfannenstil back to Küsnacht ZH will be completed four times and includes a total of over 2,000 metres of altitude. General Classification riders need to be on their toes from day one. While it may not be possible to win the Tour here it can definitely be lost. If the race is tough, I expect a group of 10-20 riders to fight for the day’s victory at the end.
Greifensee is a very popular recreational area for families and road cyclists.
There is a breathtaking view of the Alps from the Pfannenstiel.
With a view of Lake Zurich, the route heads towards Küsnacht on the Seestrasse.
Küsnacht with its lake frontage is more than just a suburb of Zurich.
