The Battle of Morgarten on 15 November 1315 was the first battle between the young Swiss Confederate states and the Habsburgs with their allies. It thus marks the beginning of the Swiss Habsburg Wars. The theme trail from Sattel parish church and the hamlet of Morgarten on Lake Aegeri tells the story interactively and leads past a memorial.

Lake Hallwil is a lake in the Swiss Mittelland and, like Lake Baldeggersee a little further south, is located in the Seetal valley. Lake Hallwil is a popular destination for day trips. In particular, Hallwyl Castle and the Pfahlhaus buildings are well known attractions. In the villages along the lakeshore there are many restaurants and beaches. A walking path of 22 kilometres runs around the lake.

St. Urban Monastery

St. Urban Monastery

The monastery of St. Urban is one of the most outstanding examples of Cistercian architecture and cultural monuments in Switzerland. Construction of the monastery complex dates back to as early as 1194, while the current church was built in 1715. With its exciting history and wide range of cultural activities, the former monastery is an ideal destination for a day trip. Concerts, art exhibitions and guided tours of the church’s state rooms are all available.

Pfaffnau

With the additional circuit through hilly terrain before crossing the finish line in Pfaffnau, the 3rd stage of the 2021 Tour de Suisse will have a Spring Classic character. The municipality in the middle of Lucerne, Aargau and Bern will be the centre of attention of cycling for two days. A thrilling race and great TV images from Central Switzerland are anticipated.
