With a width of 150 metres and height of 23 metres, the Rhine Falls are one of the three largest waterfalls in Europe. Switzerland’s most visited day trip destination is located in the Schaffhausen municipality of Neuhausen am Rheinfall and Laufen-Uhwiesen in the canton of Zurich. The 13-metre-deep Rhine Falls basin is just under four kilometres from the town of Schaffhausen. In summer, about 600,000 litres of water per second tumble down the Rhine Falls, while this drops to approximately 250 m³/s in the winter months.
