We are pleased to announce Team Cofidis as the winner of this year’s Tour de Suisse sustainability award. This year, we focused on teams demonstrating an accelerating climate agenda. In highlighting emerging teams, we aim to show to the entire pack that all actions can have a significant impact and that it is never too late to undertake climate actions. Our main aim this year was to raise awareness among teams and their fans and to motivate as many as possible to act.
Team Cofidis showed its commitment to climate actions over the last year by moving from individual initiatives to a more comprehensive strategy, including measurement of their emissions. They moved their headquarters to a more energy efficient building. They dedicated staff time to climate assessments and actions. They placed a special focus on data collection to ensure they can efficiently track their impact in upcoming years. They implemented various initiatives to reduce emissions, such as traveling rules, recycling programs (some engaging the entire pack) and energy conservation initiatives (such as installing solar panels on their team bus). Their approach shows a genuine commitment to managing their footprint, supported by partners for whom sustainability is core to their business. The team will be wearing a blue bib number during race week and will receive 3500CHF to give to the non-profit of their choice.
