Ups and downs on the Tour de Suisse

Cycling and sports betting have one thing in common. Both offer lots of excitement and plenty of ups and downs! Winning the Tour de Suisse or a sports bet takes perseverance and good anticipation skills to secure a win!

This year too, the Swiss betting supplier Sporttip will be present at the Tour de Suisse taking bets the individual stages. Since the partnership was established between Sporttip and the Tour de Suisse, numerous bets have been placed on the right winners both before and during the tour and winnings collected afterwards.

Select, cross, hand in

The principle is easy: first find out the odds for each cyclist at the kiosk or at http://www.sporttip.ch/. Then place a cross on the slip alongside the number of the bet and the number of your favourite and place a bet of at least 2 francs. Then it’s time to keep your fingers crossed that your cyclist rides to victory – to bring some welcome winnings for everyone who bet on him!

The sum of the winnings depends on the odds when you handed over the slip: if the cyclist is progressing well, his odds fall and those of his competitors increase. But things can change quickly in cycling! A poor day for the favourite can bring other cyclists into a good position and trigger a change of odds. So if you place a bet when the odds are high, you might end up winning big!

The money is channelled back

The proceeds from the sports bets, lotteries and draws are mostly channelled back into the cantonal lottery fund. Here they are used to support not-for-profit mass sports projects as well as smaller and larger sports associations. Through its partnership with SwissTopSport, Sporttip also supports the Tour de Suisse and various other sports events such as the Swiss Indoors Basel, the Spengler Cup and the Lauberhorn Race in Wengen.
