The approximately 23-kilometre time trial is a classic specialist discipline: few elevation changes, fast sections and several corners where technically strong riders can gain valuable time.
The course is not overly technical, but still offers enough opportunities to create differences. For time trial specialists, this is a key stage to gain time in the overall classification – or at least avoid losing ground.
Highlights of the Stage
Aarburg Fortress
The landmark of the town: the imposing fortress towers above Aarburg and is one of the most important historical monuments in Switzerland. Its origins date back to the 12th century, later expanded into a large fortress complex under Bernese rule.
Old Town at the Aare Bend
Stroll through the charming old town with its narrow streets, historic buildings and unique views of the river, rocks and fortress. Its setting makes Aarburg truly distinctive and visually striking.
Nature along the Aare
The paths along the Aare invite you to enjoy relaxed rides, scenic views and peaceful breaks by the water. The area is ideal for cyclists who want to combine nature and movement. The national Aare Route follows the river through impressive Swiss landscapes.

Aarburg is small but full of character. Between old town, church, river and fortress, it offers a unique atmosphere that clearly stands out from typical towns – making it a particularly exciting checkpoint.
